Robert Motherwell’s frequently repeated declaration, “The function of the artist is to express reality as felt,” certainly applies here.

I tried very hard to complete this sculpture in time for the 2020 elections, a time when “alternative truths” were prevalent.

At the time, I was in despair that fundamental truths were no longer reliable for many people. The End of Truth expresses my fear for the future of fact.
